A contiguity review was requested by the Town of Vernon under s. 66.0217(6)(d) Wis. Stats. to enable the Town to contest the annexation in circuit court. In its review, the Department found this annexation was not contiguous to the Village of Big Bend. Subsequently, the Town of Vernon did file a challenge contesting the annexation - Case Number 18-CV-2190. On December 19, 2018 the Judge signed an order rescinding and voiding the annexation and returning the territory to the Town of Vernon.
